How To Prepare For Your Dental Appointment

Your first dental appointment at a new dental practice can be intimidating. We want you to feel as relaxed as possible when you come to visit our office. As your trusted dentist in Westminster, MD, here are our top three tips on how to prepare for your dental appointment.

Bring All Of Your Supporting Documents

For your first dental appointment, it’s a good idea to bring a valid form of identification (ex: driver’s license), recent dental records if available, and a dental insurance card if applicable. If you’re unable to access your recent dental records from previous practices, come prepared to discuss your dental history. Make sure to mention any oral surgeries, medication allergies, or restorative procedures you’ve undergone. It’s important to give Dr. Bowersox as much information as possible about your prior dental care so he can best determine how he can help you.

Know What To Expect

You will be far less nervous about your appointment if you know what to expect during it. For our first-time patients, we treat your first appointment as an opportunity to get to know you and your dental goals. Dr. Bowersox will provide a dental exam in which he screens for signs of periodontal disease, cavities, or oral cancer. He may take some x-rays of your smile if necessary. A thorough dental cleaning will be provided, and then afterward a consultation for necessary follow up treatments. This is a great time to ask Dr. Bowersox any questions you have about your dental health.

Put On Your Best Smile

We understand many of our patients experience dental anxiety that stems from a previous negative experience in the dental chair. However, we want you to know that Dr. Bowersox provides very personalized care for his patients. He personally does all exams, exposes all radiographs, preforms all cleanings,  and prepares customized treatment plans for each patient. Additionally, no one waits to be seen in the waiting room. We take pride in respecting people’s time and see them at their appointed time. Our staff is committed to making sure that your experience at our office is a positive one.
